Which one is the best? Personally i prefer Vegapunk since they have HD One Piece.
1st thing: what is Kaizoku vs. Vefapunk - Best Fansub ?
2nd is that there is no contest as Kaizoku done everything from episode 1 - 235 and Movies+Specials although they slowed down they keep on ticking. While Vegapunk done only from 334-339 and I have no doubt that in time they will disappear as LONG list of subbers before them.
Lol sorry i obvously meant vegapunk. Im not so sure about that, they're very well organized and the quality is freaking awsome. Also they make the files available thruu direct download and they dont use shity rapidshare or megaupload either, they made a deal with some site who's hosting the files. Btw when i say awsome quality i mean AWSOME quality! I actually get to watch the episodes in full window without the slightes slowdown and the image is... perfect.
K-F is definitely higher quality. But they have the luxury of taking their time with each episode because they aren't in any hurry.
There's a large gap between the last K-F subbed episode and the first Vegapunk subbed one, and I'm a bit dubious of whether the K-F can fill that gap before they give up fansubbing (everybody does sooner or later).
Other than that, Vegapunk's quality is close enough to K-F's to suit my tastes.
I donīt understand why many piks one grupp and stays with them?
I men episodes upp to 341 are subbed so why stay with kaizoku-fansubs or Vegapunk. When there are othere grupps that have subbed more.
like insted of whiting for vegapunk you can go to instantz that also has HD and SD.
And isteed of whiting for kaizoku you kan download from GeruSama and ADC-Elites.
I'm not sure what "whiting" is (unless you mean making something white with hydrogen peroxide, or something), but I think great many if not most people here already watch whatever speed sub available and then possibly download the ep again from the subber they are "whiting" for in order to get a good quality sub in their archive.
I enjoyed myself with kaizoku through episodes 1-200. Back then they really released one episode per week. Now its like one episode in a month. True the quality of their releases is amazing, even better than commercial releases but they take way too much time with their releases. Now im enjoying myself with VP.
Vegapunk has done a lot more than 334-339, which makes it quite obvious you haven't watched their subs and are just a K-F fanboy.Quote:

I feel sorry for these people that just don't understand that there're great subs out there, and prettier attack animations just shouldn't cut it for a person to stay on their bandwagon and miss out on 100+ episodes of amazing content.
Archiving their subs and replacing others might be something I'd do, if I still archived OP that is. /end rant
I don't understand why the hell One Piece has such a hard time maintaining fansubbers for current episodes. I mean, its one of the most popular animes.
I wish DB would do One Piece. Then I wouldn't have to use more than one sub group ever.
Actually their portuguese branch does suib one piece, maibe the english one will sub it sometime in the near future ( and drop that shity pokemon crap it releases).
Personally i think that satying with your favourite fansubers honours them and encourages them to keep going dbmmm ... Youre a switcher lol shame on you.
Lol one of the high points of vegapunk is also that tehy're so nice to ppl on their forums :)
Btw, vegapunk quality OWNS KF quality, period.
can't relay compare the 2, because:
a) they haven't done any of the same episodes
b) HD > all else (well exept HD-DVD or Blue Ray i guess)
c) don't know Japanese
but KF seems to be getting back on their feet and release cca once a week, so gonna use them for archiving till they keep subbing :)
I wish VP would find an encoder. There's guys doing subs by themselves that know how to encode and VP is like 2 months behind on their encodes.
Softsubs are alright but I'd never archieve a softsub+raw.
Well VP may be a litle late with the episodes but it seems that in the next couple of weeks they're gonna release eps like crazy.
Is there even HD sources available for the episodes K-F is up to? I don't think there is, so the comparison of the video quality is quite unwarranted.
Vegapunk has ep 342 raw in FHD. And they state their encodes starting with 334 will be done using this source (with their SD ones encoded from the FHD). Thus... another point in their favor.
I'm pretty sure my comp won't handle FHD. I tried that with Gurren Lagann and the video ran slow, while the audio and subtitles didn't so it ended up not synching up.
My computer handles HD fine when i use nero show, when i use quicktime it all goes to hell. Anyone knows the requirements for FHD? Also, is it really worth th extra download?
Sweet! We just got 334 to 339 in about all the formats known to man from the vegapunks.
Indeed. I am currently downloading, and already planning to rewatch (at least those non-filler).
My PC doesn't handle the FHD of vegapunk, but my laptop does. But... seeing as the monitor of the laptop is just 1280 x 800 im sticking with HD...
Maybe when I have a high definition tv + ps3 I will get the FHD ones (remember... Vegapunk files are PS3 friendly)
Well actually i think some of them arent compatible with ps3 yet but theyll be soon or something like that. I remeber reading it on the news.
*bump*
Btw, i'd like to know from the ppl who download HD from vegapunk: what player do you use to watch it? If i try to use quicktime all hell breaks loose in my computer so im using nero show times that runs it very smoothly but i'd like to know about the alternatives you guys use.
I use Media Player Classic, but if it's not running smoothly most of the times the problem is people having weak computers...
I'm currently using wmp its just easier to start.
K im loving the quality but they're starting to fall way behind the other subbers. I wish they would step it up so i could discuss the episodes on the forum too :(
Yeah, the other two groups aren't very good translators. I wish VP wasn't stalled.
Ok... i think i'm done with vegapunk they're just taking way too long.
Anyone has any comments on Anime SoftSubs? Apparently they're way ahead all the other subbers but are their raws any good? What about their subbing skills?
AniSoftSubs and Instantz are about the same. Their raws are as good as anybodies.
Neither is as good as Vegapunk was, but thats the way it goes with One Piece subbers it seems. I'm still glad they're doing it.
Vegapunk is pissing me off...
About 2 months ago they posted saying that the batch would be ready in 2 weeks... i don't care if they're late but they shouldn't just post random release dates like that.
I wish dattebayo would sub One Piece
A small bump with a question
Why the hell is kazoku still one episode 247 ?
For the longest time they have been releasing one or more rarely two episodes a month so it's no wonder they aren't any further down the road than that.
You mean why haven't they released recently(although they just did this week), or why are they so far behind?Quote:

Although at this point I suspect that they are pretty far behind even the disc releases because of their speed lately.
I have to say, of the 3 or so groups subbing current episodes at the moment, Nakama-Fansubs definitely does the best job. Their work reminds me a lot of Gerusama's subs.
I agree. It's just too bad that they're video files are nearly twice the size of the ones from instantz
I think we need new thread to discuss about One Piece Fansub since Vegapunk and Kaizoku not so productive lately. I'm kaizoku follower, but i think i'd give up with them. I dont want to curse them cause i still waiting to archieve my One Piece with their release. There's so much different for Kaizoku compared to their speed 3-4 years ago.
Now, for the latest One Piece anime...i just notice it's very difficult to have a consistant fansub. We have a regular and consistent fansub for Bleach and Naruto but we we did't see a same thing with One Piece. After Vegapunk, we have Anime Ssub and Instanz but what happen to them now. When Nakama fansub taking part subbing One Piece, i put a new hope on them and their release is quality enough. I hope Nakama will keep it up and catch up as much as they can.
The only 1 left now is Yibis. Nearly forgot ACSF...any review for their release? I mean Yibis and ACSF??
Yibis is the better of those two groups.
I agreeQuote:

When did this happen?
is Vegapunk even subbing OP anymore ?
They keep updating their homepage with scripts and raws so who knows...

It's been a while since I downloaded anything from One Piece.
What fansub groups are you guys archiving, which ones you recommend?
Seems like the route to go is Kaizoku-Fansubs and then Vegapunk, but after that which ones do you guys like best?
I keep downloading Yibis to replace the HS I initially watch.
OK, so if I get all of Kaizoku-Fansubs, then get Vegapunk, I can jump right into Yibis for the rest?
Or is there a gap there that needs to be filled with another?
Let me put it this way, I never even finished watching all the episodes K-F managed to translate, so I'm way behind on the anime-watching front of One Piece.
It's been so long, I had to check my archives for this one, but it looks like you'll have a gap.
Episode 1-308 will be Kaizoku-Fansubs, Episode 309-368 Vegapunk, Episode 369-394 Nakama-Fansubs, and then finally to yibis with episode 395 onwards.
Oh, how did you manage up to 368 Vegapunk? I can only find up to 342. I know they released the scripts up to 377 though last I checked (I haven't downloaded those), but I haven't seen any release beyond 342.
So for between 343-363 I have a combination of AnimeSS and INP, but if I can get my hands on Vegapunk for those, that'd be great.
My archive seems to be a total mess between Kaizoku/Vegapunk and Yibis. So for 340-381 I have Nakama, INP, AnimeSS, and something called VS there, all mixed up. Possibly each ep from whoever released it first. My Yibis starts from 382. Nobody building their archive now much later wouldn't create such a mess.
Seems like after Vegapunk came a Vanillapunk, which in many ways is essentially Vegapunk (some of its members maybe, or just people who used the scripts Vegapunk released, etc.) so I'm getting those right now.
So in essence I'll have:
001-308 - Kaizoku-Fansubs
309-342 - Vegapunk
343-368 - Vanillapunk [They did until 377, but haven't found them yet above 368]
369-400 - Nakama-Fansubs [More if I can find them, since they did up to 417 by the looks of it, and some more here and there after]
401-??? - Yibis [Unless someone recommends a better one]
These seems like the best route to go from all I've read around.
Nice, was having trouble finding some NZB's for them, but I think I found a search engine that went back 4 years. But i can only download limited nzbs from there, so have to find another. So for now, it seems like my provider retains content from 4 years ago or so, but trouble is finding an indexer that goes that back.
Edit:
Found another NZB search engine, and I managed to grab the Vanillapunk ones up to 368.
http://www.nzbclub.com/search.aspx?q=vanillapunk&ns=0
Edit 2:
Found a bot on #yibis @ irc.rizon.net on IRC and it has all of Vanillapunk's episodes up 377:
http://xdcc.yibis.com/list.txt
Only thing I'm missing now are 401-417 of Nakama-Fansubs and I'll be set, and those I'm not finding anywhere at the moment (ex. torrents with no seeds, no nzbs, no IRC bots so far, etc.).
Nice work, I might have to replace some episodes.
The only thing I don't get, why not just get the yibis episodes for 401-417?
It's been so long, I no longer remember who was the superior group at the time.
Doing some quick CRC searches on nzbclub, I found some of the Nakama-Fansubs you are looking for. I hadn't realized they went as far back as episode 364, but I'm assuming you already found those.
