Surely Chobits isn't connected to anything? Nevertheless, it's quite a nice watch, being one of the archetype artificial girlfriend series.

i don't think they're actually connected, or in any order. i think it's more just like they reuse characters/have them make cameo appearances in different series.

It's one of Captain Falcon's (F-Zero series) moves in the Smash Bros. games for Nintendo systems.

The interconnectivity of CLAMP is a more recent thing, mostly to coincide with the multiverse in Tsubasa. Only Tsubasa Chronicles and xxxHolic are directly related, and the emphasis is only in the manga.

In anime form, CLAMPs series are generally stand alone (xxxHolic and Tsubasa Chronicles the obvious exclusion). Even then, the xxxHolic anime really doesn't share the same crossover elements.

Whatever you do, you'll gain more enjoyment by watching xxxHolic and Tsubasa Chronicles last. There are loads of references to past series in those two, particularly the latter, but if you haven't seen Card Captor Sakura, you'll probably miss most of the references anyway.

But isn't card captor Sakura a 1 girl show on sailormoon? Basically, shoujo to the max right?

I think it might be that you've never seen it, or at the least only saw the butchered Geneon version broadcast on television. There are a few interesting things about it. Cuteness of the mahou shoujo aside, there is some depth to the series. Nasty love polygons, lots of mystery, and even some stand out features that have yet to really be matched.

    - It is interesting to note that Sakura never wears the same costume twice (as far as I could tell). Her friend makes her a new one pretty much every time.

    - There is definitely some implied yaoi and yuri relationships. Not something one usually sees in a magical girl show (though Nanoha definitely did the latter it too). Part of the reason the series is so well liked among the AnimeCon crowd years back.

CCS comes off a lot more like xxxHolic to me than it does Pretty Cure. Sailor Moon is actually a rather apt description, because the Sailor Moon manga is a bit more mature than you are probably giving it credit for. I can't say the same about the Sailor Moon anime, the last season was never brought over to the States.

CCS is, like all CLAMP series, sweet on the outside, with undertones of considerably more serious material.

that's not how you do it.

this is how you do it:

the final note that closes the story, is necrophilia.

    [manga only]

sig made by Itachi-y2k5, thanks, dude!
Currently Watching: probably a show directed at 9 years old girls, lets be honest.

You know the important distinction between Batman and me? Batman is fictional. In real life, there isn't always an alternative.

Well... i guess even sailormoon had some interesting points if you really thought about it ( yes i watched it when i was a kid, fuck you all ), so i'm willing to give Card Captor a try for curiosity's sake if nothing else.

Is it one of those anime that leaves you with a good feeling after you're done watching it? I'm looking for one of those too

Since I've dropped more shows this season than I usually have in an entire year, I'm looking to pick up a few to make up for it. So, from the watchers of this show, I'd like your opinions.

    Bakemongatari:
    gg or wait for Koharubi?
(with Frostii being the obvious archive choice)

    Cross Game:
    Subsmith or ANBU?

Slower releases is not really an issue for me, I'm looking for the most well-rounded release.

I think most people have ignored your request because we either tried one or the other, and so don't feel right making a recommendation without trying out both sub alternative.

Bakemonogatari: I've only tried gg, and their subs are good as usual. Being such a dialogue intensive anime (and sometimes jokes that naturally get lost in language translation), I can't tell whether they're accurate or not. I suggest you randomly watch an episode with both alternatives to tease out the difference (if you really must have the very best). Personally I'd suggest episode 3.

Cross Game: Subsmith is what I've been watching They're perfectly watchable, but you'll see the occasional typo, as you do with speedsubs. It's not an eyesore, but I notice them when they flick on screen. I can't remember the last time that happened though, so it's often.

That said, I'd go with ANBU just because they should be better at this sort of proof editing.

    If it's not Isuzu-chan Mii~

yeah, i have only watched gg for Bakemonogatari, so i wouldn't be able to tell you. But, I can tell you that gg's been leaving commercials in, and it's annoying. so if the other guys aren't doing that then you might go with them. but then, in such a dialogue heavy show, it'd be a shame to miss out on stuff with a bad TL. So, i think i'd wait for Frostii.

on Cross Game, i haven't watched past the 2nd episode, and i honestly can't remember who i got the first two episodes from.. though when I start catching up on it, i'd probably go with ANBU.

gg for Bakemonogatari, because Mango-chan (Coalguys) is the translator (translates Canaan as well). Mango's translations are always good.

    Ahoi,

ah, i hope you guys can recommend something along the lines that im describing now:
Basically, im a bit sick of a serieīs main character being rough/edgy in the beginning, but then turning into a shining hero at the end of the story.
Or in other words, i hate how most stories always "teach you a lesson", how itīs better to behave like that or this.

A bit of an example would be Berserk, where Guts never really gives a shit about how he does things, and always gets away with doing so.
Are there other quality series like that? Hopefully, with even more "negative" behaving guys than Guts, whoīs already too much of a good guy by now.

Maybe itīs hard to explain, but there are often series where a main character doesnt behave completely right, then is scolded by another, more mature character, and later on the main character realizes how he was wrong...i want a series, where a main character stays true to his, not completely right, beliefs.

Bad recommendation(but I think it matches your description): Gundam Seed Destiny

Better recommendation(at least I hope it is....): Kara no Kyoukai
"Be sure to take this piece of $#!t(meant sheet)" - My dynamics professor(heavy japanese accent)

    Sig and Avatar by Lucifus
Current Games: League of Legends(Fuck, its got me hooked again -_-)

Also try He is My Master if you don't mind perverted comedy.

Then there are also Code Geass and Death Note, but you have probably seen those.

Hm, i started He is my Master, but iīd really prefer a more serious story. Code Geass and Death are, of course, well known, though i wouldnt call those 2 shows what i mean. Both those series have a very self-confident main character that never even would have considered to be wrong.
Im more looking for a main character that kinda knows that heīs not perfect but keeps doing it his his way. Yeah, i know, its hard to explain it

Im having a blackout at the moment, but there are many series that have a main character that gets scolded in the seriesī beginning, then thinks "damn, why do they always pick on me, damn it", but later on changes and becomes a shining hero. I want a series where the main character doesnt change that way and STILL manages his way through whatever adventure lies ahead of him.

Berserk isn't really the best example...

    But you want Anti-heroes?

Darker than Black is a good choice. Hei is a pretty ruthless character.

I'll second Outlaw Star. Gene isn't really a bad guy so much, but he also remains fairly consistent in character. There is development, but not so much of the softening variety. (Bonus is Ayako Kawasumi's debut role.)

Cowboy Bebop goes right along with Outlaw Star.

Hellsing too. Both versions. The Ultimate OVA is a lot better, but the original series is entertaining in its own right. A decent amount of the anime original material fits right along with Alucard's character anyway.

Mezzo (Kite, Mezzo Forte, Mezzo, Kite Liberator). The first two in the list are hentai, but there are censored versions of the two because they action and the story are good enough, and the hentai scene really has no bearing on the plot of Mezzo Forte at all (Kite it is though). Characters with a very punk, anti-hero vibe, be they the assassins in Kite, or the three idiots in Mezzo. None of them are good people when you get down to it, and the animation style is pretty distinctive and nice looking, you can recognize a lot of their OP/ED work.

Scryed The two protagonists are assholes, and they stay assholes. They might turn out to be heroes, it is a standard shonen power-up series after all, but I would hesitate to call them good people.

Nothing else crosses my mind right now, but if Munsu comes around to this thread, he could suggest a lot of good ones for you.
