    Games: Nintendo DSI

So... the new DS has been announced... DSI

    http://news.vgchartz.com/news.php?id=2180

    PROS
    - Double Touch Screen (Error from translation, this one is not true)
    - Integrated Camera
    - Larger screens

    CONS
    - Half battery life
    - No more GBA support

    Comments?

Personally I say: CRAP! I am happy with my current DS, and the backwards compatible is a must for me... now... with unique games for DSI Nintendo will make you buy the DSI if you want to play... that bull... if they had kept the BC and didn't kill the battery I would have thought of getting one.

    nahha...
they are roughly ten games that utilize the touch screen properly, and ten other who use the duel screen function well.

screw them, November is all about Castlevania:OoE.

sig made by Itachi-y2k5, thanks, dude!
Currently Watching: probably a show directed at 9 years old girls, lets be honest.

You know the important distinction between Batman and me? Batman is fictional. In real life, there isn't always an alternative.

I'm a bit confused here, IGN said the dual touch screen was incorrect.
(We originally translated that DSi's screens were both touch compatible, but that is reportedly incorrect.)

Unless I'm just making a mistake there.

The DS web browser is built in, great!
Bigger screens, better speakers, thinner than DS Lite.
And, " If you connect even once to the Shop by March 2010, Nintendo will give you 1,000 free Points as a present."

I don't care about the GBA slot. I still have my DS for that if I want to play them.

And it's not like there's much new great titles coming out for the GBA now too.

For games that require the GBA slot, like Pokemon for trading, GuitarHero and such, you still got your DS/Lite to do that.

Other than the "Half" battery life, I don't see much reason why it's shit.

    Medium brightness:
DS Lite = (does not exist) DSi = 6 to 9 hours

    High brightness:
    DS Lite = 7 to 11 hours DSi = 4 to 6 hours

    Highest brightness:
    DS Lite = 5 to 8 hours DSi = 3 to 4 hours
I'm still using a DS Phat, on which I hardly get 4 hours of play with the battery, so this will be a huge improvement for me anyway.

How long do you guys think it will take before we are able to play Homebrews through the SD slot?

So November 1st for Japan.. I hope it will get here before January, and that I can manage to get my hands on one, especially during the Christmas season.

No Backwards comaptibility means the hardware doesn't run it, or they took the GBA slot 2 out? If it's the latter I'm guessing you can just run GBA off an R4 or something.

If it's not dual touch screen, the only real "new" feature is the camera then. Which just screams external attachment. Nintendo's trying to real hard to milk their hardware sales, when they really should about their third party lineup for the Wii and to a lesser extent the DS.

edit: DSi Trailer with a good amount of random game footage: http://www.gametrailers.com/player/40712.html

By the looks it, I guess it doesn't have dual touch screens, since in that trailer all the touch screen action was done on the standard bottom screen.

So dual touch screen was a mistake. Then there is no need to 'upgrade' nor 'change' my current DS. Good for those that didn't had one though.

You can watch the conference there in English.

    Or just read about the important points here;
    http://www.nintendo.co.jp/n10/confer...n/e/index.html

It really doesn't look that bad when you get more informations.
