I'm not ignoring sequels? I already KNOW about their quality, no recommendation needed. But usually there's at least a couple good new ones, too. I recognize that Kimetsu might be one, but surely there's not only one good new serious show? :/

The problem is that sequels also take a time slot (as well as shows that began last "season"). But so far, Kimetsu is the only one I'd consider as a "top" show besides the sequels.

Kimetsu is a top quality show and probably one of the best in recent years (so far).
    Must watch this season imho.

How many shows do you expect each season to be good and worth your time?

    4? 10?

That number and bar varies from person to person naturally. The point is that if I only expect X shows to be good (let's say 4), and I already have 4 good sequels and/or 2-cour series, then the season meets expectations and is about average. It's not lacking just because no new shows fit the bill.

I'm not criticising you for asking for good new shows. I'm saying that a season isn't shit just because it meets an expected quota of good shows with sequals or carry-overs only without introducing new IP that you've yet to see.

    If it's not Isuzu-chan Mii~

One good new serious show is what I expect. I thought Fairy Gone would be that, but ep 1 was terribad

And yet you already know Kimetsu no Yaiba is that show but don't watch it.

Because uninteresting setting + child characters :/

But it seems both Attack in Titan and Kidou Senshi Gundam start today.

Uninteresting setting in this case is your personal preference. Child character dislike from a HxH fan isn't very believable.

Just because you don't like certain tropes doesn't make something not a high quality show, which was the origin of your complaint. Kimetsu no Yaiba already meets your demand for 1 quality show per season.

You are doing yourself a disservice for not watching it, especially after seeing the latest episode.

I've got nothing against well written child-characters. My favorite anime of all times is Fantastic Children.

Kimetsu looks like another case 'kids have it all figured out, adults suck' and I'm too tired of that shit. I don't want to watch kids fight dramatic battles, speak philosophical trite and sacrifice themselves because they're oh-so true to their mission. :/

HXH is a fantasy setting AND has plenty of capable adults, too. Not comparable to Kimetsu's pseudo-realistic samurai setting.

You are so off about Kimetsu. Adults there are more capable than children. Children, especially the main character, do not have anything figured out and had to be guided to be able to do anything. Kimetsu is also fantasy, with friggin demons... Somehow in your head, having a sword makes it pseudo-realistic, even though it's straightforward shounen, where being flung around doesn't break bones and the hero has some weird unique ability.

It's set in the Taisho era (1912-1926), but has thus far taken place in rural areas. So don't give us any shit about how some of the "modern" clothing shown in the OP seems out of place.
