    Lacking Season?

Mind you, I still need to start Mix and Quartett, but it still feels like this season is shit. A bunch of sequels, but what about hype new shows?

What are your favorites of the new season? I'm missing something serioys that isn't ahit (screw Fairy Gone, what a disappointment).

onepunch, tate, kono oto tomare, kimetsu no yaiba, shingeki in 9 days

pretty good season compared to last one.

there is kenja no mago too, which is some kind of horrible nonsense isekai but has had some comedy moments I could laugh at.

It's almost as if i asked for NEW shows :/

And neither Tate nor Kenja are quality anime. They're passable crap.

Kimetsu no Yaiba is a good new shounen show from ufotable.

Yu-no is adapted from a legendary time travel sci fi visual novel (that I never read due to its sheer age), so that's promising. I watched 3 episodes and this could be great. A lot of mystery so far.

Shoumetsu Toshi is kinda all over the place right now but has potential.

Dororo carries over from last season and is a good action show. Kind of demon of the week at first but then develops rapidly near the end of 1st cour.

Agreed that Fairy Gone is such a huge disappointment in the first episode. Haven't watched the rest.

Kono Oto Tomare is one of my favourite currently running manga, so that alone means a lot to me as far as this anime season is concerned. I thought there was a new Strike Witches to watch as well, but that turned out to be total garbage with an animation budget of 100 yens per episode. I'll probably keep watching the 100% generic Kenja no Mago only because I'm a big isekai fan. One Punch Man goes without saying. In the end I don't need overly many series per season these days. I experience quite a hard time keeping watching even half a dozen shows.

Hey... okay, then live on thinking that this season is somehow different from the last 50 seasons or so because it's "lacking" something. I just wanted to help you fill your boredom
It's not like I didn't read what you wrote, but I chose to ignore it because: (it's you)

There hasn't been a "quality anime" in years.
Not a single one wasn't full of flaws and illogical stuff that couldn't be talk into the dirt like some fanfiction.

Just pointing out the shows that are actually watchable for the time being. Most seasons only have 1 or 2 from the get-go.

Not getting new shows but continuations of good ones like one punch man or at least established ones like Danmachi / ReZero is a good thing nowadays and something I look forward too in the seaon previws

@Kraco - What's the reason for the drop in the shows you watch? I ask because I too have reduced my consumption to less than half what it was before.

    Carol & Tuesday

Just a simple anime, with a simple storyline and simple recipe.

But I like it so far.

At some point you decide wether anime is still for you or not. I stopped watching movies and watching TV and news because these activities were too far from what I need. Anime might follow someday.

All the things I really like to do are either illegal, immoral, or fattening. And then: Golf.

That's a good question. I find myself reading a bit more manga than I did before, so that might account for something. Reading a chapter of manga takes less dedication (and time) than an episode of anime. It also can't be denied anime just doesn't feel the same as before, from a personal point of view. That must be due to having watched so much of it. What I find sort of annoying is not watching so much anime anymore, it's my new tendency to drop series in the middle, not really intending to do it because the show was poor, it just ends up happening. Sometimes I manage to finish the show later, sometimes not.

I'm watching less anime, too. Can't bear the generic stuff anymore.

I'd agree that there haven't been topnotch anime in a long time now. We get some hyped stuff, then it turns out to be only soso, see Goblin Slayer, Attack on Titan S3, Wonderland or Tate.

The only kind of anime that manage to reach true heights these days are slice of life/sports, like Kaze ga tsuyoku fuiteru or Ballroom (yeah yeah, dat 2nd season sigh).

It's just that even so, I managed to find a couple promising picks each season. This season I didn't. OPM and AoD save it for me, maybe AoT part 2 will be ok, too. But the new stuff? Low tier stuff.

Sigg, I just want some REALLY great anime again. Yes, I can't forget the time Death Note first aired - magical times. But Inuyashiki and Ajin were quite great, too. Log Horizon was nice, too. Also Sidonia. Where's quality stuff like that?

Yu-no looks too generic. If it turns out being a masterpiece, tell me.

Kimetsu has samurai-age + youkai, which I'm sick of. Same for why I'm not watching Dororo. I find the setting just sooo 'been there, done that'. :/

Just watched 'Nande koko ni sensei ga' ep1 ... which seems to be a softcore hentai wtf. Now trying Isekai Quartet.

Well, that doesn't mean there isn't quality anime this season. You just don't watch the better ones airing due to personal preference in setting (samurai and demons).

Yu-No is definitely not generic in the 3 episodes shown so far. Definitely written for a more adult audience than the usual anime.

Maybe you should try some of the short-format comedies this season. They're quite good.
Senryuu Shoujo - Girl speaks only with written haikus
Midara na Ao-chan wa Benkyou ga Dekinai - Annoying father character, but girl who has sworn off men forever due to her father's profession as an ero-author experiences love/lust for the first time. Good gag miscommunication.

The WSJ imports are killing it this season:
    - You could watch the best harem series out there in over TEN YEARS: Bokutachi wa Benkyou ga Dekinai. The girls have personalities (instead of the usual fetish/niche cardboard archetypes), familiarity with people besides the male lead (including each other), and their own autonomy right from the onset of the series. The series frequently takes harem tropes and doesn't invert them, it sets them up and then dodges them on purpose. The author really knows their shit, and the anime has been very faithful. If I had to give it a downside, it's the weird hair colors for the anime (mostly normal shades in the manga) and the reaction faces aren't quite as sharp as they are in the manga. Near-perfect casting makes up for those faults.
    - Kimetsu no Yaiba, as mentioned before, has style in spades. Takes demon hunter revenge series and vampire series and blends them quite nicely in a historical rural Japan setting.

I'm not sold on Kono Oto Tomare. And OPM is a downgrade from last season because they don't have the redrawn HQ panels to use as storyboards like last time.

I'm watching less stuff, sure. But the stuff that I am watching is pretty great. I constantly think that I'm watching less stuff, but I've been averaging about 6 shows Winter/Summer and 5 shows Spring/Fall for the past 10 years.

I watch less shows depending on what video game I'm playing at the time. Right now Sekiro has been a timesink over the past 2 weeks, but that might be finishing up now.

Usually I can carve out 10 or show shows to at least give a chance to, but this season has been pretty arid so far.

Ok, I'm still looking for good anime

That yu-no anime (that actually isn't call yu-no at all, sigh) looks like your standard fare harem bs with some gimmick. And Takuya Arima ... wasn't that the hero in another ecchi anime? :/ ugh ...

I know Everyone keeps, saying 'every season is bad', but I really can't find a single good, serious show. Even Mix Meisei is boring so far ...

I must be missing something .... no season can be this bad -_-

I still find ignoring good sequels as part of the season a weird practice, but whatever.

I'll actually look more into this season later.
