    Upcoming Anime Season: Summer 2021

With a little over month away from the start of summer season, I think it's good to start this :>

Anyway, you know the drill: What anime are you gonna look into?

    https://anichart.net/Summer-2021

    ------------------
    Here's mine:

    - Slime Tensei Season 2-Part 2
    - Kobyashi Maid Dragon Season 2
    - Shiroi Suna no Aquatope (nice aquarium animataion, but with Japan's questionable attitude towards sealife, eh ....)
    - Bokutachi no Remake (eh, guy looks young even before the time jump, but I guess it could be interesting ...)
    - Nighthead (related to that old anime? )
    - D_Cide Traumerei (dunno)

Definitely a weak season imo, but I guess that's just normal. Can't have a good season every time.

    Lots of isekai there.

    Slime Datta goes without saying.
    Kobayashi as well.

I might try to watch Mahouka Koukou no Yuutousei, for old times sake.
I'll have a look at Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu. The manga is decent but nothing extraordinary.
I'll also have a look at Seirei Gensouki. It's as run of the mill isekai as you can get.

Genjitsu Shugi Yuusha no Oukoku Saikenki would actually be a series I'm not familiar with, so I'll have a look if I can be bothered to. Maybe I'm not familiar with it for a reason.

Stupid Mushoku got postponed. It would obviously have been the crown jewel.

Aside from the obvious Slime Tensei and Dragon-Maid...

I'll probably give Jahy-sama a try. Is it is a mix between Hataraku Maou-sama and the recent teasing series? It seems to be aligned with the likes of Nagatoro and Uzaki over Hataraku Maou.

Same with Aquatope. PA Works originals are at least worth giving a shot because they're original works. Sometimes they're bad, sometimes they're amazing. Generally, the ones that deal with daily jobs and/or water are better. This has both!

Kageki Shoujo - For no particular reason. These types of shoujos are just fun and the cast is really strong.

Bakarina S2 - I'm a little more ambivalent on. The series hit the first climax, and I actually enjoy the "Hard Mode" spinoff manga more.

I want to like Shinigami Bocchan to Kuro Maid because I love the manga, but the truly awful CG throws me right out of it and it feels like the series has replaced its artistic charm with dead doll eyes. Which is a strange thing to say, considering the art style has that feel to it in the first place. It just translated really poorly to CG.

New season is about to start. I hope you guys go back to posting more actively (I'm not only addressing the 2 above :P), because last season was awfully quiet. Even the imo show of the season, Fumatsu no Anata e, was void of discussion Similarly, Tokyo Revengers and Nomad didn't evoke much discussion, either, when I'm sure they would have in the past.

Of course, the new season is looking pretty bad from what I looked up, so that might go against more activity, too, sadlol. Stll, if you're watching any of the new anime, feel free to post about it. Also make a new thread if need be, it takes 2 minutes and doesnt need to be pretty.

That's just that. Gotwoot is the only place on the internet where I feel I can talk about anime without the usual shit that happens when you try and talk about anime on popular, big forums.

Still haven't gotten around to watching Fumetsu and am only halfway on Vivy, both of which I'm pretty sure contend for top show of the season.

Tokyo Revengers irked me because of how convenient the time travel mechanic was and how the hero is just a glorified punching bag.

Next season is dismal, but I'll try to post more. Been struggling with my mental health in the past few months due to a tragic loss, but I'm slowly recovering. Didn't want to use what little energy I had arguing about anime nitpicking.

I don't post in threads for series I don't watch, and I stop posting in threads for series that I drop. Kinda duh.

I'm also in a rut, like 10 years ago.
Fumetsu: droped because I'm not strong enough. Megalo ? droped the first show... not for me. TR ? not for me.
But I admitt I could be more active. For some reason my english does not seem to flow as well as it did in the past. I feel it impacts my participation too.

    @Shinta: take care my friend.

Think I'm only watching Slime, HeroAca and One Piece this season. And Boruto when I get bored enough.

Genjitsu Shugi Yuusha no Oukoku Saikenki
    Bokutachi no Remake

are probably the only 2 shows I'll give a try.
The rest is or sounds like a snore fest to me personally.

Oh.. and maybe Scarlet Nexus because the game is on steam.

    Better than Nexus for sure.
But that princess gets on my nerves... enough to offset Frau's awesomness.

Half bodies, red blood, squished soldiers. That was quite graphic for my tastes.

    What David said.

I'm unfamiliar with the source material so I don't know if anything was artistically edited out, but there was enough blood and dismemberment there. Also no black/white bars or obvious coverups (eg wooden buckets in onsen scenes).

Kageki Shoujo had a very solid first episode. Well animated and brimming with energy. Some people are apparently put off by the art style, but in motion I honestly didn't even notice.

It's pretty much exactly what I expected it to be so far, but there's just a lot of genki girl energy going on here, more than I expected. A little heavier on the humor than a lot of these Takarazuka Revue (but different so don't sue us!) inspired series tend to go.

I did watch the Momotaro gore series, and also liked it more than I was expecting to. The bunny girl and the hook at the end of the episode might have sold me on it.

As for David's comment, I think the princess will get better with time to develop. It's a little weird considering we're seeing her after whatever happens in the flashback. She's already had some level of character development, the series just skipped over it.

I kind of hate Bokutachi no Remake.

First episode spoilers below (not sure if I want to give this its own thread)

It gives off the impression (until the last 10 minutes of the 50 minute eps) that he's going back to essentially leech off of the success of the Platinum Trio because he's failed so many times despite being so perfectly flawless at project management skills.

It's at the last ten minutes that the series takes its own advice about character flaws and he makes the statement that despite his experience and so perfectly flawless project management skills where he's lacking in fundamental knowledge. Then in the last five minutes, the series squanders it all again with his reaction to the reveal that was telegraphed the whole time

This whole attitude here of, "I can finally be successful if I had only chosen a different path, one that brings me into proximity of the most amazing artistic trio of my generation!" is really pretty disgusting. He was 28. Do it yourself if you're so great at organizational shit, time management, and managing the deadlines on creative talent. There's always time to start fresh. Find an artist, find a writer, make something small scale and strive for future successes. But nah, he needs to use others to achieve his own success.

I immediately compare this to Shirobako, Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata, and Imouto sae Ireba Ii. All three series where creative talent or project management bust their ass to achieve their creative dreams. Shirobako shows all the struggles of anime. Saekano is exactly this, making a visual novel, and even with genius level talent, but working beyond exhaustion for perfection with an extremely small team while knowing he's borrowing their genius. And Imosae, where the whole group of them experience setbacks and writer's block, and though it is generally a more comedic tone, it cuts into some pretty deep topics for LN authors and the problems they encounter.

This? This is just a loser who doesn't believe in himself, full of regret, but lacking any drive, desperately looking for a crutch. Maybe it turns itself around, but I really, really disliked this first double episode.

I don't think I can stomach watching Mahouka Koukou no Yuutousei anymore. The first episode was nothing but Tatsuya and Miyuki flirting, from the beginning till the end. On the contrary, Seirei Gensouki's first episode was actually decently good. Of course it's still 100% nondescript with nary a single thing making it unique in any way, but compared to Mahouka Koukou no Yuutousei it was a highly entertaining first episode.

    Aquatope episode 1:

Yeah, that's a drop. Super slow pacing, pretty, frail girls doing girls things. Meh. I kinda expected a vastly different show here, more down to earth, instead it's even got magical elements.
