""Selection Project" is a national idol reality show that is held every summer. The Selection Project is the top gateway for girls who want to become idols. The audience's votes determine which girls win or lose in the "audition battle."

Miyama Suzune wishes to be an idol like Amasawa Akari, an idol who got her start through the Selection Project reality show. Suzune had been stricken with illness since she was little, but she listened to Akari's music often in her hospital room. Akari's voice gave Suzune smiles and courage, which encouraged Suzune to want to inspire others in the same way. In her last summer of junior high, Suzune decides to enter the seventh Selection Project to make her dreams come true.

Looks like the greatest killer of successful musicians is car crashes while if you're looking to get isekai'd, you need to keep a look out for trucks. Good to know.

Some of the animation in the first episode was just... wasted on mundane scenes, but still enjoyable to watch, of course. The mini-twist of the main girl losing the all-or-nothing block vote might have been better served if they stretched out such a limp attempt at subversion more than maybe 10 minutes of the next episode before she 'could participate anyway'. At least the other main contestant feels dubious about her situation, and Suzune didn't back down, being an ambitious girl, after all. Also of humorous note is the latest altar to the god of moe idol-dom: an entire school revamped big-brother style (complete with dorms) for the final selection, which also involves training? I guess it makes since once they introduced that there may be multiple idols selected.

They've got an idol for every niche: the curt one, the hungry one, the fake one, the big sis one, the anemic one, the cat one (combined with the ojou), and so on. Worth a look of you need your idol fix this season.
