    My Home Hero

Tetsuo Tosu, an ordinary salaryman, discovers his daughter, Reika, has been physically abused by her boyfriend, Matori Nobuto. Trying to learn more about him, Tetsuo uncovers Matori's scheme to extort money from Reika's wealthy grandparents, and finds out that he is a member of a crime syndicate, with a history of murdering his former girlfriends.

Filled with rage and fear at the thought of Reika being in danger, Tetsuo ends up killing Nobuto, and with the help of his wife, Kasen, successfully disposes of the body. Now, as the members of the syndicate begin to question Nobuto's sudden disappearance, Tetsuo and Kasen must work together to ensure the safety of their daughter and prevent her from getting involved in the predicament any further.

    Episode 1:

My god, that daughter Reika is one dumb bitch. She actually deserves to die. :/ Funniest moment of the episode was the reaction of the wife to the dead boyfriend. A calm "we have to clean this up", lol. Husband is too much of whimp and I fear that cliffhanger will continue with failure. Would have wished he instantly stabbed the 2nd Yakuza-guy. Can't take chances with these criminals.

Animation is lesser than I expected, but I think this anime will deliver some fun drama. Not the high quality I was hoping for, though.

Oh, and either that was totally unrealistic or Japanese society is a hellhole, when the dad was yelling loudly for help as the Yakuza-guy dragged him away into a backstreet and all the civilians just didn't do anything. That just wouldn't be possible in Germany. Either people would interfere or at least call the police asap. Pure bs scene.

BS was the closet phone scene.
Then anything with the yakuza hitting his head somewhere first, then finish him, would have been better than what we got.

Necessary evil deed against a pure bastard probably is the mild discomfort they wish to induce in the audience ?
    Why not.

I fear the rest of the show will balance on a very thin bs reason for the yakuza not having the familly of three sink with their car in a lake... Because finding the guy dead in the tub after the mother and daughter get out of the appartement is reason enough to take action.

Animation was awful, but the second thing that struck me was how trashy the whole thing feels. So far though, they are managing the tension arcs pretty good, and I want to see what happens next, even if it makes little sense to me.

    Episode 2:

Ok, no idea why they made him look so overly pathetic last week, only to turn him into Mr White X Light this week. lol. And his wife is now definitely affiliated with some sinister forces, "is this your first murder?", rofl. Reika continues being a dumb bitch.

I really hate these Yakuza, though. They got ZERO right to be upset. Fuck them, they're ruining people's lives. Really hope the parents can get out of this situation without some "deal".

These Yakuza just do their business. White haired guy is paid for a job, his underlings act accordingly.
They are skilled, well organised. Pretty much like any business, only they don't care about laws other than their rules.

Very low quality animation. Too much bullshit.
I wonder how they get out of the cliffhanger.
Since the yak's death it's been like 2 days in the story ?

Yakuza by definition are bad people. Society would be better off without them.

If only this show had better art, I would pardon Reika's obliviousness because of her waki, but nope.

The trashy vibes have somehow worn off, but what remains is a pretty competent thriller. Enjoying it more after adjusting to the weak animation.

I thought so too, at first, but when they showed her hands shaking, I'm now convinced she is just soft spoken with a killer poker face. I feel bad for her, actually, and in that same scene they mentioned that his masterminding was more a result of consuming a plethora of mystery entertainment, not any special genius. Because they seem like regular people, it is easier to root for them (except Reika, who is all the worst parts of 'young adult' congealed into a monster of obnoxiousness).

That said, it escalated quickly with the saran wrap!

Yakuzas with no results within 2 days of trying under the radars... felt logical they'd try a lot harder and shift to stronger methods.

They're more sophisticated than traditional yakuza depictions, at least. Listening devices and surveillance make them seem more akin to law enforcement until they break and enter, and kidnap.

I forgot to mention, It made me smile (in episode 2) when they revealed that he only had innocuous clothes in his suspicious briefcase, and that he had planned for them to look at it (bait to see how much scrutiny he was under). I saw it coming, but wasn't sure, so it was a good tension relief when he dodged that bullet. Yeah, so for this one's a keeper.

    episode 3:

ffs, I just want those asshole yakuza to die. And the dumb daughter fwiw.

Was kinda hoping that he'd actually defeat the yakuza guy at the end because of the hint of his work boss, seemed to hint at him having a fighting past.

    episode 4:

man, i feel so uncomfortable with these self-rightous yakuza assholes. literally everything bad thats happening is their own fault. how they drag Tosu and his family into all of this is just nasty and makes me feels nauseous while watching.

I'm also totally not trusting this Tetsuo or whats his name piece of shit. The gun wounds might be fake and hes just acting to get Tosu to admit the truth.

Well, you're not supposed to be rooting for them, so that tracks...

While I doubt Tetsuo faked his injuries, I was sort of expecting him to reveal he was a narc for the police or something down the line, since he played a larger part than expected. I half expect the gang member at the end to recognize him just before he dies as another plot twist to start off next episode.

    Still going strong.

    episode 5:

really hating this anime now. in a ... "good" way?

Everything that's happening is so unfair, it really gets my sense for justice tingling like crazy. The fake-murder confession in the beginning with the attached blackmail of Tosu's parents. Tabata trying to reach into Kasen-san's pocket. And Nobuto's father ignoring what a shitstain his son was. And somehow realizing Tosu was lying about the name. Ugh

I really hope we'll get some satisfying win for Tosu before the end of the series.

Tosu's mistake is using Tabata's name. His whole plan hinged on the Yakuza not finding out about their ties with Tabata, and he just gave Nobuto's dad Tabata's name...

I'm glad to see that the 'punishment' for disobeying orders in the Yakuza isn't exclusively 'death'.

I like the idea of fabricating evidence that the dude is alive- that solves alot of problems smartly. Pinning it on someone else potentially might not stick.

They're getting good mileage out of Majima's involvement (and not killing him off).

The scene of Tetsuo desperately banging on the bathroom door was more funny than it was likely intended to be and kinda took away from the tension in the scene, but still another good episode. I like how quickly the Yakuza were able to see through the video fake, and Tetsuo contemplating another murder was juicy.

    episode 7:

Reika is such a dumb bitch. If a stranger told me "your parents are hiding sometihng", not only would I be wary of the stranger, I'd also simply question my parents. Any outcome here is better than what she's doing: Working AGAINST her parents.

Honestly, this is such construed shit-behavior that I've seen in many anime before, so I gotta ask: Is this the Japanese society's view on relationships? Is it normal in Japan to distrust your parents that much? In anime like Gantz, you also have shitty behavior like this, and there's other examples, too.

WHO behaves like that? It's not normal, but apparently in Japan it is?

I think it's family dependent. Reika is also at the cusp of adulthood, so she might think she is smarter than she really is. Still, meeting up with a known womanizer with the seediest invitation is very Darwin-award-worthy.
