Seishun Buta Yarou wa Bunny Girl Senpai no Yume wo Minai

    95626.jpg

    Synopsis:
Puberty Syndrome—a rumored, mysterious syndrome that only affects those in their puberty. For example, a bunny girl suddenly appeared in front of Sakuta Azusagawa. The bunny girl's real identity is Mai Sakurajima, a teenage celebrity who is currently an inactive high school senior. For some reason, her charming figure does not reflect in the eyes of others. In the course of revealing the mystery behind this phenomenon, Sakuta begins to explore his feelings towards Mai. Set in a city where the skies and seas shine, Sakuta unfolds the meaning behind his bizarre encounters on women with the said syndrome.

My favorite anime of the season, and that's saying something because I'm a fan of Goblin Slayer LNs. The exchanges tease at tropes but never really falls into them. It reminds me of when Monogatari was still good.

    Episode 1 and 2.

So, do I understand the synopsis correctly, she's invisible?

To most people. It's a bit more complicated than that.

This somehow gave me strong "Teen RomCom SNAFU" vibes... I immediately loved it. I think it is the dialogue that more feels more like banter in a good way (maybe it is). It's enjoyable to hear what the characters have to say to one another, which many anime fumble with. I was even able to ignore the "clingy imoutou" trope because they worked her shut-in story into the central gimmick of adolescence syndrome.

Yup the verbose is both a great quality and a little tiring.
I enjoy that show for what it is, production values and all other details are ok, so I can enjoy my time watching it after a hard work day.

All the things I really like to do are either illegal, immoral, or fattening. And then: Golf.

I'm really liking the female lead's performance. Seto Asami is killing this role, making her character mean, likeable, sympathetic, tragic, endearing and attractive all at once. Two episodes, and her performance makes it feel like she's gotten a whole season of character development.

Some of that is the writing, but the voicework is really driving this one home for me.

I agree with this. Her voice acting is amazing. Definitely much better than the dude, but that might be due to the difference between their characters.

    ep 4

Agree with Ryll. As for the '2 eps and it's like a whole season', imo that goes for the plot, too. It's refreshing to have a romantic confession taking place this early. Gives more room to develop things. Then we're also at some sort of second arc, too, already, that's now about time travel. Random, but I allow it.

Tbh I had a few issues with this anime in the beginning (everybody knows about this syndrome?why is everyone so relaxed? Why is she so relaxed?!), but then I realized that it's going for a Haruhi-kinda atmosphere, and that works. The dialogue is fantastic.

"I need a time machine!" - "Can I hang up now?" XD

This show is pretty good. The comparison between this and Bakemonogatari definitely fits. This is slightly more mainstream, which isn't really a good nor bad thing. More like a stylistic difference.

    Fuck~

    That was so heavy :'(

I'm not sure I understand exactly how all of this ends up the way it did, but on an emotional level it worked.

I compared this to Bakemonogatari before, and I'm going to have to do it again. In the long run, this takes the cake. Sakuta feels more genuine, even though he dicks around just as much as Araragi. I don't know exactly why, but this show feels like it's more about solving the characters' real problems, while Monogatari seemed more about solving the puzzle that the plot had delivered. Maybe it's because half the time in Monogatari it was about figuring out exactly what was being spoken.

I liked Bakemonogatari, this was more on the mark and down to earth, quantum physics and all.

Just watched it. It had been so long that I forgot they never got (around) to the middle-schooler's problem. Great continuation of the series and ties everything up as well as I could have asked for.

As for how she was saved, I think the implication is that Mai, due to a reverb dream from the 'fake' present, was compelled to take the film role of a character awaiting a donor, which put organ donation into the public eye, and someone else who became a donor due to this influence gave her their heart upon their death.

Do watch. It is a compelling movie that expects you to have seen the series.

    I agree with this.

What I don't quite fully comprehend is the exact circumstance and consequence of each time travel. Given that these are dreams, it's a little difficult to comprehend them as actual timelines per se.

I did not see timelines as dreams.
But dreams are a good way to store and explore timelines.
Stories/fiction/movies are a way to share timelines, even from other universes.

Sleeping is a way to halt consciouness to be able to go to other possibilities(timelines here) as in quantum mechanics.

I still have troubles with fully understanding the consciousness/measurement problem in QM so I'll leave it at that , it's not a place to talk QM.
